The Orcas Island Writers Festival is dedicated to fostering community among readers and writers. Set on Orcas Island in Washington's beautiful San Juan Islands, our four-day annual festival offers writing workshops in fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry and playwriting; morning and afternoon classes; and evening readings by our talented, award-winning team of instructors and visiting presenters.
Our 2009 festival will be held September 17-20. We are pleased to welcome Jody Gladding, Matthew Goodman, Diane Lefer, Ellen Lesser, Deb Lund and Nance Van Winckel as instructors. We are also excited to welcome Al Young, Poet Laureate Emeritus of California! Visit us at www.orcasislandwritersfestival.com.
